Morning visit with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon at the Kiambethu Tea Farm, one of the first tea growing farms in Kenya. Lunch at the farm , followed by a talk and walk in the indigenous forest learning about the flora and fauna and marvel at the beautiful colobus monkey swinging overhead in the trees.
Situated 7,200ft above sea level, and approximately 30 km from Nairobi city, Kiambethu farm has been the family home of one of the earliest tea growers in Kenya. The farm dates back to 1910 and the present house, set amidst colourful gardens, has been home to four generations.
Mrs. Vernon is the grand daughter of the owners of this farm and the stories she will tell will take you back to days gone by. Lunch is prepared with fresh vegetables from the farm and desserts are topped with cream from the Channel Island herd of cows kept on the farm.
